Type of Portfolio Entry:
Confessions and Realizations of a Crossdresser-Advantages of Human Homosexuality
Title / Subject: Essay
I decided to put this because for me, this is a frustrated essay and entry. I really had a lot of plans for this but it was too hard to put into words. Let's say that the feeling is different :>.
The thing that I liked the most doing this essay, would ironically be the thing I dislike about it the most too: the data gathering portion. Basically, I gathered data from the life sci powerpoints and our values education lesson during 2nd year (Mrs. Sarmago) supplemented by the 2 instances in my life when I cross-dressed: first year and fourth year. It was a good/bad experience for me but definitely something new!
Maybe I should have put in more supporting facts, but then again it would be hard to justify me not being gay. Oh and maybe I should cross-dress more...
For me, I realized that in Biology norms really aren't followed not only by chance, but also for a reason. It made me think that maybe deviating from the standard can allow for advantages unheard of! Oh and a bit of "homosexuality is viable in biology". I guess that the "trying something new and deviating from standard" is the most important lesson here for me. If our ancestors never evolved we won't be here! We only got here because of a combination of luck and their deviation from the rest of the species in the world in the race for survival. The more unique, possibly the better.
I can learn from things that society would normally condemn/discriminate. I can also learn from the most unusual of things and even from things from our daily lives. Some information here, I managed to obtain from observation of people I know who are homosexual. It really is surprising that when you think you're free from academics, you're actually learning. You can be in an area just watching people, but you're learning new things like math, psychology even a bit of practical biology and physics. You can't escape it!
If someone else wants to do something like this, well maybe I'll tell them to do more "INFO GATHERING". And possibly interview people they know to be homosexuals, of course in a non-offensive, purely scientific, non-discriminatory way.
